Tonkatsuya Japanese Cuisine was founded in 2006 by Chef Hosoya and his family. The aim was simply to share with the locals his 30 years of expertise in Japan as a Tonkatsu chef and bring them authentic Japanese food at down-to-earth prices. Starting as a corner restaurant located at the Lower Ground Floor of Palm Tower, San Antonio Village in Makati City, with just three tables and Japanese and Filipino foodies queuing outside, Tonkatsuya has expanded and opened up other branches in Makati over the years.
The specialty of the restaurant, as the name suggests, is Tonkatsu. It is a breaded and deep-fried pork cutlet served with a mound of thinly sliced raw cabbage, a bowl of Japanese rice, a bowl of miso soup, and a small plate of bean sprouts. Other varieties of Tonkatsu are also offered in their menu like Miso Katsu, Oroshi Katsu, and Cheese Katsu. Aside from their popular Katsu dishes, there’s also a great selection of Donburi, curry rice sets, and ala carte dishes such as Tori Karaage and Gyoza.
In addition to the excellent quality and freshly cooked meals, Tonkatsuya also provides friendly and attentive service in a relaxed environment. Staff and owner are dedicated to the best food and customer service.
For as low as P300, one can enjoy the freshly-prepared, delicious taste of authentic Japanese food wherever and whenever you like.
